Water is a precious commodity that is necessary for our health, maintenance of our landscaping and for protection of our homes from potential fires. The cost of delivering this supply and service must be managed so that it is affordable to the residents of our community.
Water has become one of the most sought after resources in the world. That is true here in Southern California as well. Droughts, state and federal regulations and competition for inexpensive water has raised the cost of this most precious commodity. Unfortunately, much of the water that we need is obtained from distance sources such as the Colorado River. While your local water district can do little to contain or reduce the cost of importing water into our area, we can do a great deal to control and manage the cost associated with transporting the water to your home.
As a Board member of the Yorba Linda Water District for the last eight years, I have worked to keep our water rates low and affordable. As a result, our district's rates are among the lowest of all 32 water agencies in Orange County.
