A public water delivery system must achieve the highest levels of reliability as it is delivering into each home a precious commodity that must meet all public health standards. It must also deliver water on demand and with adequate pressure sufficient to meet everyday needs and firefighting demands.
Delivering the water to meet your needs, whenever they are, is the highest priority for water retail agency such as the Yorba Linda Water District. This is not always an easy task, especially as the service area and water demand expands with annexations and in-fill growth. More pipelines, booster pumping stations and storage reservoirs are required. The upgrading of older parts of our system is also needed to prevent costly leaks and line-breaks.
Since becoming a member of your Board of Directors, I have worked to make the necessary improvements and to build new facilities to meet these expanding requirements. For example, during my tenure on the Board, the District has built 5 reservoirs with over 15 million gallons of storage capacity; two of these, Hidden Hills and Highland, recently went on line, with a combined storage capacity of 9 million gallons. In fact, in these last eight years, the District's storage capacity has increased by nearly one-third. Also, we have built during this period 4 booster pumping stations and more than 5 miles of major transmission pipelines.
