Being in the classroom I see the pressure for performance on test scores and the need to spend time preparing students to succeed, but I also see the importance of the arts and technology to bring balance ensuring that all students have access to a quality, standards-based arts education curriculum.Does technology belong in the classroom? To be effective in the 21st century, today's students must be able to exhibit a range of functional and critical-thinking skills related to information, media, and technology. Technology, when implemented appropriately, can definitely have a positive impact on the classroom. I believe every classroom should have access to technology. Does art/music and theater belong in the classroom? The arts can open the minds of students in ways mere writing and reading can never be able to accomplish. Arts sometimes provide the only reason certain students stay in touch with school. The classroom teacher cannot incorporate additional curriculum and the ALL THE ARTS program can meet this need. |
