What inspired me to run for office.
My father was a career military member who gave me the desire to enlist and serve my country. After college, I entered an Executive Management Training Program and became a Manager. I left my job as a Manager to join the military. It was during my time in the military that I had a moment of absolute clarity of purpose and devotion to America, its principles and values. Terrorists attacked military members and installations in Greece where I was stationed during the mid 1980's. We were told to remain on base or if we left the base to wear civilian clothes to avoid attack. The airline I had flown into Greece a year prior was hijacked and, a member of the US military shot and killed solely because he was a US soldier. Greek protesters stood outside our base shouting "Kill All Americans!" It was quite a wakeup call. I understood then the sacrifices soldiers had made for freedom, and that I may be called upon to make the same life giving sacrifice during my tenure in the military. I wept as the American flag was retired at the end of the duty day because I understood the true meaning of freedom. That is why I am a candidate today. I understand the cost of freedom. And, I want to preserve America's founding principles. My motto is God, country, family. And, I honor and support California's heroes, fireman, law enforcement police, military members, and teachers.
As for the issues confronting California; I believe the recession, our inability to balance the budget and, security of our ports and borders are California's most pressing issues. I believe I have the knowledge, skills and ability to navigate California through these difficult times. I hope you will give me your vote for Lt Governor this June.
