Dear Friends:

It is with great pleasure and pride that I am seeking reelection to the El Monte City School Board. As a parent of five sons, and a professional educator with over thirty years of educational experience, I am in a unique position to understand what is needed to be an effective school board member. I serve this community with compassion, energy, and a well-rounded perspective. My school involvement began as a room mother at Durfee School and has grown to school board member and high school English teacher.

  • Married 40 years; raised 5 sons, all successful graduates of El Monte schools
  • 37-year El Monte resident
  • Life-long learner, individual thinker, collaborative worker

Educational/Professional
  • Entering Doctoral program Ed Leadership 2010
  • Masters Degree: Education/Teaching, Azusa Pacific University
  • Administrative Credential: California Polytechnic University
  • High School English teacher

  • EMCSD Board Pres.: 2004-05; Vice President: 2002-04; Clerk: 2001-02
  • Masters in Governance 2003 Graduate
  • Region 23B Delegate for CSBA Assembly; LACSTA Representative

Objectives as Boardmember
  • Advocate for and adopt fiscally-responsible policies to ensure that our schools are attractive, safe, state-of-the-art facilities where faculty, parents and students feel valued and inspired to pursue their professional, personal, and academic goals
  • Seek out and promote partnerships with city organizations and businesses
  • Advocate for and adopt policies to ensure success for all student subgroups
  • Continue to advocate for and adopt programs and policies that ensure improved health and wellness for our children and their families
