Brian Campbell, Candidate for RPV City Council

Local businessman Brian Campbell has called Rancho Palos Verdes his home for more than a decade. As a father, civic leader and community volunteer he has a unique understanding of local issues that affect businesses, homeowners, families and quality of life on the hill.

Brian grew up in a family that has always been involved with and strongly believes in community service. His Grandfather served in WWI, his Father served in WWII and his older brother, an Arizona Police officer, served in the Marines during the Vietnam war. His sister lives in Mexico and volunteers in local orphanages. His parents, both currently in their 80's, still volunteer for Meals on Wheels and at the local courthouse in their hometown dispensing pro bono legal advice gleaned from his father's 40 year career as an attorney.

After graduating from the University of Colorado at Boulder, Brian served as an officer in the U.S. Army for 14 years. During that time he volunteered for various Airborne assignments including Parachuting school, Pathfinders, and Jump Master training. He briefly served in the Army Rangers but was injured during a parachuting jump exercise. Afterwards Brian served in the 2nd Infantry Division in Korea where he volunteered for combat duty assignment inside the DMZ with North Korea. As a reservist, Brian also served with the 82nd Airborne Division based at Ft. Bragg, NC.

As a businessman, Brian's career in commercial real estate has spanned 27 years. As the managing partner of his own brokerage firm, Brian has been the recipient of several industry awards including the Los Angeles Business Journals' Commercial Broker of the Year award. He has been credited with pioneering some of the most cutting edge leasing practices in the commercial real estate field and has overseen real estate transactions throughout the United States, Asia, South Africa, Mexico, Brazil and Europe.

Throughout his professional career, Brian has worked for some of the largest real estate firms in the US such as Vantage Company, Cushman Realty, Studley Inc., and as an owner of Colliers International in Los Angeles. Brian's main focus in business now is the restructuring of commercial office, industrial and retail leases. These efforts frequently can result in a business being able to continue to operate through these economic times and saving the jobs of their employees.

Brian has continuously served his community in various capacities such as the President of the Monaco Homeowners Association, past president of the Rancho Palos Verdes Council of Homeowners, City Council appointee to the General Plan Update Committee and has volunteered his time to successfully mediate RPV View Ordinance disputes.

Brian is heavily involved in the YMCA, Indian Guides, Little League Baseball and Junior Lakes Basketball programs as well as a past supporter of the United Way, and Small Wonders Foundation where he is a board member of the organization that supports the Childrens' Hospital of Los Angeles.
