What Brian Stands For

  • A SAFE PLACE TO LIVE - I believe that protecting the residents of RPV is the primary responsibility of our municipal government. Safe streets are essential in raising our children, keeping property values high, and simply preserving the calm nature of our community. As a Councilman I will make a concerted effort to work with and further develop our local law enforcement and emergency first responders to improve the overall safety of the city. Our recent fires on the peninsula clearly show that we can further upgrade our communication systems with residents to further insure all of our safety.

  • RESPONSIBLE FISCAL POLICIES - As a business owner, I believe in practicing responsible budgetary management and keeping strong financial reserves. The current economy presents many challenges to our city and residents and I plan on exploring the bidding out of some current city functions to identify potential savings and eliminate waste.

  • MAINTAIN INFRASTRUCTURE AND STORM DRAINS - We must continue to maintain the upkeep of these systems for the safety of our residents and the protection of property values.

  • TRANSPARENCY - Residents should have a better understanding of how their local government works. I will encourage more community outreach between city staff and various homeowners groups and other local organizations.

  • MORE CONSTRUCTIVE ENGAGEMENT AND FEWER LAWSUITS - I know that we are all concerned with the number of lawsuits and pending litigation that have surrounded our city in recent years. As a Councilman one of my main priorities will be to help manage this litigation in a more business like fashion similar to private industry standards and practices.

  • KEEPING RESIDENTS INVOLVED - One of the most important parts of being a City Councilman is listening to the input of fellow residents. I plan on making city procedures more accessible and taking more input from residents on all city matters. City government should work for the people, not drive them away or keep them at bay. I will encourage volunteerism and more citizen participation in our various city committees and commissions.

  • PROTECTING HOMEOWNERS AND OPEN SPACE - RPV is one of the most beautiful places in the United States, and I am committed to preserving the natural beauty and residential character and neighborhood compatibility of our communities. Our city belongs to the residents, and I am committed to protecting against aggressive commercialization and over development of our beautiful open space.

  • FAMILY RECREATION OPTIONS - I will favor some of the future revenues from the Terranea resort to build children specific parks that will help augment the relative loss of traditional neighborhoods that has happened over the past generation. We need more parks where children can come to after school or on weekends and they can see their friends, ride bikes, play ball and otherwise engage in activities that are restricted in current city parks.
