Darice Bridges, a lifelong Emeryville resident, is deeply committed to children. An actively involved parent and formally licensed day care center owner, she has over ten years of experience working with Emery USD, the City of Emeryville's Community Services Department, in both the Emeryville Recreation and Emeryville Child Development Divisions. Darice is a leader. She has served on the Anna Yates School Site Council, as an 8th Grade Parent Liaison at Emery Secondary School (ESS), and on the High School Redesign Team. She's helped raise funds for ESS students to travel to Washington, DC, with Close-Up and maintained the budget for the ESS Athletic Parent Booster Club. Under her mentorship, Emeryville teens organized year round events focused on healthy living in an attempt to bring programs and activities to teens to keep them engaged and violence in our community down. Darice has an A.A. degree in Liberal Arts from Berkeley City College and is pursuing a bachelor degree in Human Development. This past year she was employed by the Alameda County Office of Education's EvenStart partnership with CalSAFE, where she worked with teen parents on early literacy and child brain development. As an Emery USD School Board member, Darice will work hard to improve the quality of education and community resources for our families, and bridge the gap between our youth, their homes, schools and our community as a method to help them develop into healthy and productive adults.
