I have successfully run a small business for the last 28 years, proving my ability to balance budgets, make sound decisions and to keep up with changes in taxes, legal requirements and reporting requirements. Five years ago my husband of 30 years passed away, and I have continued to run our business on my own.

I seek out continuing education within the business, legal and medical arenas that I am involved with in my business, which keeps me informed and current with new rules and regulations. I know how to research and find the information necessary to make informed judgments.

Since volunteering with the Rossmoor Homeowners Association, I have spent 2 years on the Board handling many different committees. I am the Newsletter editor and I chair the events committee, with our biggest event being our annual Family Fun Day Picnic which draws over 5,000 people. I am the RHA liasion to the JFTB, and have been on the committee to help design and fund the new Veteran's Service Center and Park for over a year. I also volunteer at the Service Center which serves the needs of all branches of the service, both past and present. I developed the Miss Rossmoor Scholarship Pageant to commemorate our 50th Anniversary and have continued it due to the tremendous success it received. The ladies receive lessons in public speaking, self-confidence, interview techniques and community service projects are a cornerstone of this event. The goal is to give the girls skills that will help them in all areas of their lives, and to find a spokesperson for the community. This also helps bring awareness to the public of the needs of our chosen charity.

I have always supported many different charities, with my time and donations, and have helped with organizing various fund raisers. This has been very fulfilling personally, and has given me a deep appreciation of the needs in our community, and how important it is to give back.

I have raised two children here, and my four grandchildren went to school here until they recently moved. I have recognized the need to involve the schools with the community as 4 of 6 elementary schools are within Rossmoor.

It is important to me to be INCLUSIVE in what I do; I do not believe in the idea of exclusivity.
