OC Deputy Sheriff's Union is funding material which is less than truthful thus casting a bad reflection on the members of the union.
I just received a mailer telling me to vote no on Measure U. First thing I noticed on the mailer is that it was sent from the Association of Orange County Deputy Sheriffs Issues Committee. Why is some outside agency telling me the incorporation of Rossmoor is not good for me? I really object to having the Deputy Sheriffs Issues Committee so grossly misrepresent this information which they're claiming to be facts. I consider this an insult to my intelligence. Does this Committee have that much disregard for the citizens of Rossmoor?
It is true that the county cannot refuse to provide essential services, but no one says these services have to be at any specific level. What kind of service would we get from this Deputy Sheriffs Committee if they developed a case of "Blue Flu?"
It is not true that Rossmoor residents approved the purchase of the schools and wall without a tax. It was done with a tax approved by over two-thirds of the residents. The Sheriffs Committee mailer says we're in a recession. This morning's LA Times quotes Wall Street as saying we're heading for a recession. Since when has the Sheriffs Committee been a group of nationally recognized economists? Do they know something Wall Street does not?
Our Orange County Sheriffs Deputies are professional law enforcement officers who daily risk their lives to protect us as citizens. The Sheriffs Committee in funding this mailer with all of its untruths and non-facts casts an unwarranted, negative reflection on this fine organization. If I were a member of this organization I would object strongly to having my dues money spent on a mailer such as this one which impinges my integrity as a law enforcement officer.
