Keep Open Space--Open

By Ronald Beldner

Candidate for Council Member; City of Laguna Woods

This information is provided by the candidate
The City Of Laguna Woods was created without the City receiving any open space. Within the Laguna Woods Village the open space is owned by the Golden Rain Foundation and was purchased for use by Village residents.
The residents of Laguna Woods Village (formerly Leisure World), the gated community that voted for and created Cityhood makes up 90% of the Laguna Woods 4.1 square mile area, and holds 96% of the Cities population. Residents want the remaining open space in the Village to remain open for residents use, and not sold off to developers."No more San Sebastian's," is the demand of the residents.

As a City Councilman, I will propose that the City Of Laguna Woods be declared "A Built Out Housing City," to eliminate developers from destroying our way of life.

I will also vote against the establishment of a Redevelopment Agency for Laguna Woods. Redevelopment Agencies are for blighted areas and we have none. Unfortunately, Developers come in with a lot of money and soon peoples' homes and local business are gone to make way for massive residential or business projects.

I will also vote against the tearing down of the one and two story Co-Ops to make way for six story towers, that will further increase traffic and enviornmental polution.
