I grew up in Redwood City, CA. and after graduating from Sequoia High School, I enlisted in the Marine Corps and served a tour of duty in Vietnam.

When I returned to the United States, I met and married Pam Peterson, a life long San Leandro resident. Almost 38 years ago, Pam and I decided that we wanted to make San Leandro our home and where we wanted to raise a family. We have one son, Christopher, who got a great education from the San Leandro public schools.

I have worked for Wells Fargo Bank for 30 years this November and I am currently a Risk & Compliance Consultant for the bank. In this position I am responsible for ensuring that the three (3) call centers (Concord, Salt Lake & Baton Rouge with approximately 1,100 plus employees) for the banks Online Customer Service department follows all of the federal regulations (i.e., Anti Money Laundering, Patriot Act, Bank Secrecy Act, etc.). Prior to my current position, for seven (7) years, I was Senior Auditor for the bank. In this capacity, I performed and supervised internal audits of the various departments within the bank. These audits varied from technical, financial, business and/or operational.

I have been involved in the San Leandro community for over 35 years. My philosophy on volunteering is: "I have always felt that living in San Leandro is like living in a community of friends and I believe that you just don't take from your friends and community but you give back to them."

  • I am the founder and CEO of the Keep Music Rockin' Foundation that raises and donates funds for the music programs to all 11 of San Leandro's elementary, middle and high schools. Since the foundation was founded, we have been able to provide over $56,000 to our schools.

  • For the past fifteen years, I have been President of the Friends of San Leandro Creek, which is teaching environmental stewardship to our students and community. The Friends has created a 19,500 sq. ft. mural depicting the natural history of the creek, produced an interactive CD showing the creeks watershed and the Friends is currently developing and will be constructing an Environmental Education Center.

  • I was the Chair of the Advisory Task Force on Resources Realignment, a committee that conducted a detailed analysis of the San Leandro Board of Education's finances and recommended priorities to spend the limited resources.

  • I was a mayoral appointment to the Human Resources Commission for the City of San Leandro. This commission reviews the social needs of the community and makes recommendations to the city council with regard to community assistance funding.

  • I was a member of the Bond Advisory Committee to the San Leandro School District. This committee reviews and ensures that voter approved bond funds are being spent effectively to improve the infrastructure of the schools.
