As your school board representative, I am working hard to improve our schools. We have accomplished much and there is more work to be done.

We must continue:

  • Modernizing, improving and adding new school facilities
  • Narrowing the achievement gap
  • Improving communication with parents, teachers, staff and community
  • Controlling expenses, while enhancing revenues, so we can hire and retain quality teachers & staff
  • Maintaining a safe, clean and positive learning environment
  • Enriching the learning experiences of students with more college or career pathway opportunities
  • Working with city and community leaders to continue improving our schools.

The goals that I would like to accomplish over the next four (4) years are:

1. Better working relationships with and involvement in the decision making process of the districts bargaining units
2. Passing of a parcel tax
3. Developing & implementing a long range (over five (5) to six (6) years in order not to jeopardize the district solvency or put the district into a deficit spending fiscally position) plan with our bargaining units for salary improvements. These salary improvements will be outside of our normal contractual negotiations to that help move the members of the units from their current positions on the different pay scales to the highest level within Alameda County.
4. Weathering the fiscal crisis that we are facing without making drastic cuts or reductions that directly impact or affect our students, classrooms and staff.
5. Continue the narrowing of the achievement gap within our district.

Working together, we can make San Leandro schools the best for our children, their futures, and our community!
