Diane Creasey's education and career experience are valuable assets for this school board position.Statement of Candidate for MPUSD Area 1 DIANE J. CREASEY Current Trustee MPUSD School Board Education and Qualifications: I would really appreciate having the opportunity to continue serving the students, families, and the community as a Trustee on the MPUSD school board. I have worked with children and families, both as an educator and a registered nurse, in a variety of settings. The nature of my work has focused on helping individuals learn information and skills to help them grow as they live meaningful and productive lives. Between 1975-1980, I worked as an early childhood and kindergarten teacher in rural New Hampshire, in the city of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and in the Bay area of California. In 1982, I became a Registered Nurse, graduating from De Anza College. In addition to working as an oncology and critical care nurse for over 24 years in the hospital setting, I earned a Master's Degree in Nursing in order to teach part time as a clinical nursing instructor. My family has lived in Marina for the last 12 years, and includes a child who has attended Olson, Los Arboles, and currently Monterey High School. I have served as a board member in the PTAs in all three schools each of the last 12 years. I also served on the Boards for the Gifted and Talented Education Program and the Monterey High School Academy of Oceanographic Sciences. In addition to supporting numerous projects and teachers in local schools, I have voluntarily supported school sites and programs through fundraising and grant writing. I believe in honest, open, positive communication that revolves around shared goals, joint planning, and values that promote collaboration and constructive problem solving. I value the responsibility that being a board member involves in promoting exceptional and equitable opportunities for all students, families, staff, and administration as they develop their potential. I look forward to working with our outstanding superintendent, dedicated administrators and principals, enthusiastic teachers, and loyal support staff in promoting optimal, educational experiences for all students and their families. Credentials: B.A. in Psy and Elementary Education (U of Iowa, 1975). AA in Nursing, (De Anza College, Cupertino, CA 1982). Master's in Nursing (U of Wisconsin, Madison 1990).
