As a police officer and deputy district attorney, I bring real credentials to the table...As a former Orange County Deputy District Attorney and a reserve police officer with the Los Angeles Police Department, law enforcement has always been a top priority. Currently, I have the honor of serving on the Assembly Public Safety Committee. In this capacity, I will continue to work for tougher laws that protect citizens and the brave men and women who work to provide us with a safe and peaceful California to enjoy time with our families, friends and neighbors. As an ardent advocate for Megan's Law, I have dedicated much of my time in Sacramento to strengthen the sex offender database while making it more accessible. In 2004, I was proud to be a joint author of AB 488, which put Megan's Law on the Internet. In addition, I am the co-author of AB 632, which will establish a Sex Offender Management Board. This Board will coordinate state oversight of sex offenders once they are released back into our communities. I will continue to support GPS monitoring for paroled sex offenders and extending the distance a paroled sex offender can reside to a school or park. I will do my best to ensure that our law enforcement agencies receive the necessary funding to prevent and fight crime. My efforts will continue to be geared at removing criminals from our streets while ensuring that those already in prison stay behind bars the duration of their entire prison sentence. |
