Candidate for
Council Member; City of Santa Clara; Seat 2

A descendent of Portuguese and Italian immigrants, Dominic J. Caserta is a fifth generation resident of Santa Clara. His family has been active in the civic affairs of the Mission City for more than 100 years.

In November 2002, Dominic was overwhelmingly elected to the Santa Clara City Council, seat #2. As a Councilmember, Vice-Mayor and Chaplain, Dominic has been part of a team dedicated in making Santa Clara the best place to live, work, play and raise a family.

Dominic believes that we must preserve Santa Clara's heritage while preparing our city for the challenges facing us in the new century.

An energetic teacher at Santa Clara High School, Caserta is a strong advocate for improving our schools. He understands that our children are our future and that knows an excellent education is the key ingredient in preparing our youth for the challenges of the 21st century.

Caserta represents a new generation of political leaders who seek to replace the partisan politics of the past with fresh ideas and a practical approach to the challenges of the twenty-first century.

Like many residents of Santa Clara, Caserta shares in the challenges of living in Silicon Valley + traffic congestion, dwindling open space, and skyrocketing housing costs. Dominic has tackled these issues head-on as a councilmember, putting public policy above partisan politics in creating workable solutions to these issues.

In addition to his duties in the classroom and at City Hall, Caserta has his real estate license. Dominic is also involved as a the Library Ambassador for Santa Clara, a member of the Santa Clara Optimist Club, SES Portuguese Corporation, the Italian American Heritage Foundation, the Young Men's Institute of Santa Clara, the Santa Clara Unified School District's Wellness, Nutrition & Physical Activity Committee and member of the California Teachers Association (CTA).

A graduate of the Santa Clara citizens' police academy, Dominic J. Caserta is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Santa Clara University as well as Bellarmine College Preparatory. Raised in the Jesuit tradition, Dominic strongly believes in being a "person for others" and giving back to his community. Dominic lives in the Old Quad in Santa Clara and recently had he Spanish style home on the Santa Clara Home Tour.
