Why I am running for school boardBy Beverly J. GrantCandidate for Trustee; Carpinteria Unified School District; Trustee Area 1 | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
I am running for school board because I care about children, their present and their future. I received a Bachelor's Degree from Wayne State University in Michigan and I did graduate work in Los Angeles. After many years of employment in the California Criminal Justice System, I am asking for your support to be of service to the Carpinteria School District. Having spent decades working with children and adults, I am acutely aware of the enormous costs incurred culturally and financially when the educational system fails to meet their needs. We can do better! We must do better! As a single parent, Carpinteria has been our home for thirty years. My children, now adults, graduated from Carpinteria schools. For the past three years it has been a pleasure to be a mentor in one of Carpinteria's public elementary schools. Last year, after becoming a guardian (Grandma) to a student with special needs, the school district staff worked with us to help my child make a successful adaptation to school. I continued to volunteer in the classroom and he had a wonderful year! These are my priorities as a school board member:
Please vote for me so we can reach our goals together! Beverly Grant |
