Public ServiceBy Martin HarmonCandidate for Board Member; Sierra Joint Community College District; Area 6 | |

Service to the public should be based upon good judgment not political beliefsTo me, public service is one of most rewarding experiences that one could ever achieve. The word "trust" as in "trustee", sums it up. The people should have confidence in and should be able to rely on their public officials, especially when it comes to fairness, truth, honor and ability. To gain public trust and confidence while conducting the public's business should be the most important goal for any public official. We all know that Sierra College has experienced some bitterness over the past two years. This Board has become too political and polarized, which grossly affects their ability to function as a Board and to serve the public. This must stop. I seek this office because the Sierra College Board of Trustees should be more concerned with students and our communities. I will bring stability, credibility and accountability to this Board. As Trustee, I will work with the other Board Members, President Chavez and his staff, instructors and students for a fresh start in rebuilding our image and relationships. |
