Full Biography for Jamie "Jai" (Washington) Cubit
Candidate for |

|
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Jamie "Jai" Washington-Cubit, I am Co-Pastor of a local church with my husband of 18 years and motivational speaker. I am a candidate for the Moreno Valley Unified School District Board of Trustees. I moved to Moreno Valley in 1985 as a student attending CSUSB. Upon graduating with my BA in English in 1988 and minor in business administration, I married a wonderful man and moved to Tustin, California. However, in 1990 moved to Perris, where we started our family. I lived there almost 8 years. However, after having three wonderful daughters, we moved to Moreno Valley in 1998 because I liked the school system. My daughters have attended strictly Moreno Valley schools, from the city run "Time for Tots" program on to the public schools. I believe in the public school system! I, myself, am a product of public education. Currently, I have two daughters in high school and one daughter in elementary school here in Moreno Valley. I have worked in various schools in the district including, Box Springs, Seneca, Palm, and Valley View. School Site Council has been my focus. I served 2 years at Box Springs, 6 years at Seneca, (5 years as president and 1 year as vice president due to other responsibilities), and 3 years at Palm, (1 year as president). Additionally, I have worked on the GATE Steering Committee since it started 5 years ago. Additionally, I have represented some of these schools at various conferences, workshops, and seminars. As you can see, I have volunteered in this school district in many capacities for 11 years; from Junior Achievement consultant, assistant basketball coach, to PTA, class mom, and the above mentioned committees, just to name a few. It is my desire to see other parents get more involved in the education of their children. Teachers are not solely responsible for the education of our "little ones". I will work diligently to increase unity within MVUSD, children, parents, teachers, administrators, counselors, and staff should all work together. A unified district is a strong force and our children will benefit greatly. All Children should be able to reach their full potenital and achieve their own "American Dream", whatever it may be! I believe our children are the most valuable resource we are blessed to have and THEIR WELL BEING SHOULD COME FIRST! So on Election Day vote for me Jamie "Jai Washington" Cubit MVUSD Board of Trustees. |
