PRESIDENT CYPRESS SCHOOL BOARD During my first term as a member of the Board of Trustees I have relied on my strong background in law, finance and business management to make sound decisions facing the Cypress School District. My college experience in Paralegal Education is beneficial when reviewing contracts and Ed. Code. My job experiences in all aspects of business and finance have given me the insight when dealing with human resource issues as well as the complex financial side of running a school district. In order to serve as the President of the Board this past year I attended trainings from California School Boards Association. This gave me the tools to be an effective leader through the crisis of losing our Superintendent and the ability to handle the monumental task of leading the Board through the Superintendent selection process. GASELPA BOARD MEMBER/CLERK I've served on the Greater Anaheim Special Education Local Plan Area Board for the past two years. This board is made up of School Board Trustees from the six districts in the GASELPA and provides direction and support to the Regional Administrator. CYPRESS COUNCIL PTA SCHOOL BOARD LIAISON As the Cypress Council PTA School Board Liaison I am a member of that governing board. Attendence at these monthly meetings as well as the Superintendent's Round Table Meetings allows me to interact with parents and PTA Presidents from each of our nine school sites. Valuable insights are gained at these meetings on a regular basis. CYPRESS DISTRICT ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEMEBER As the President of the Cypress School Board I also participate as a DAC member. This committee is conprised of representatives from each of our nine School Site Councils, the Superintendent and myself. This provides another perspective as these councils include staff, administrators and parents. MOTHER OF CHILD WITH SPECIAL NEEDS As the mother of a secondary student with Autism, I have experience as a parent in the public education process. The perspective I bring not only to the GASELPA but all of the boards I serve on has been a change from the past. My participation in PTA continues at the secondary level. This gives me a general awareness of other parents concerns and the experinces to share with elementary parents. |
