The Only Council Person to vote against the New General Plan
Dick will continue to be Residentially Oriented and fight for Private Property Rights. He will try to prevent massive giveaways of zoning for large residential/ commercial projects.
The General Plan on November's Ballot is a totally new document that fundamentally changes the city's zoning rules. This could have been written as a modification of the original, reassuring residents that their property rights are being preserved, unless their property and/or area was specifically addressed and changed. This is not the case and every resident should thoroughly read it to see how it effects them.
The new general plan leaves many zoning issues unaddressed. For example: Multi-family residential, are currently addressed as Units /acre. The zoning of areas are specifically addressed in the current General Plan may not be addressed in the new General Plan. If the zoning is not address, new zoning can be written or left to the discretion of the Planning Commission, without supervision of the Council unless a majority vote can be gathered.
We believe all unchanged property, should continue under present rules; and, changes in zoning should be justified with a separate General Plan ammendment. We Encourage You To Reject The New General Plan. Furthermore to prevent the massive residential zoning grants scheduled in the Airport Area, if the General Plan is approved, You Must Vote Yes For Greenlight II, Measure X.
