Campaign StatementBy Karin M. FreemanCandidate for Board Member; Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
An experienced leader who is committed, dedicated, and approachable. As a parent and long-time district resident, I demand an outstanding education for all children. I plan to continue working on many issues that confront education. We must strengthen curriculum and instruction to prepare students to meet local/state requirements. We must maintain safe schools. Modernizing campuses and technology will better serve students. Recently, two new schools have opened. Soon, the first high school in Yorba Linda and a new middle school in Placentia are expected online. Vocational education needs to be an additional focus. Raising well-educated, responsible young citizens is a high priority for this community. My educational experience includes: current President of PYLUSD School Board, member/past President of North Orange County Regional Occupational Program, delegate for California School Boards Association, past PTA President and Site Council member. I received the 2005 Marian Bergeson Award for the outstanding board member for Orange County. I'm a UCI graduate and former English teacher. My community activities include: Chamber of Commerce, St. Jude Community Benefit Committee, and Yorba Linda/Placentia Historical Societies. I will work diligently to help the district accomplish our vision for the future. We have an excellent district and must keep this tradition. |
