Energy efficiency in district operations is now critical to low cost service. My experience as an engineer qualifies me to monitor the projects that attack this problem.
Energy is now the dominant factor in the cost of water and waste processing. The district has always been careful to keep its operating costs down. Improving the electrical efficiency of machines and reducing the energy demand of treatment processes has become imperative. Projects toward these ends are ongoing and there will be more to come. Though most of my career has been spent minimizing the power requirements of systems that used microwatts to milliwatts instead of kilowatts to megawatts I know how heavy equipment and control systems work and am competent to monitor these projects.
