Resident-Friendly DevelopmentBy Bob HolbrookCandidate for City Council Member; City of Santa Monica | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Santa Monica is already one of the most densely populated cities in California, and tens of thousands more people commute here every day. We must not pack any more high-rise buildings or large developments into our city. I will continue to support future development that is compatible with the small-town feeling we want to keep--no high rises or huge projects!Economic forces, unchecked by government, would create a much denser city than residents want. It's up to the City Council to keep this from happening. We recently downzoned several areas of the city and are in the process of revising our land use and circulation documents, which will control future development. Over my 24 years as an elected official in Santa Monica, I have always listened to the residents and made your priorities my priorities. I will continue to do that, especially in regard to such an important issue as future development. |
