Gertrude Q. Gregorio is presently the Dean of the Adaptive Learning Division (ALD) at Foothill College of the Foothill - De Anza Community College District (FDCCD), one of the largest community college districts in the United States serving about 44,000 students each quarter. In this capacity, she oversees academic programs for 2,700 students, supervises over 50 faculty, classified and hourly employees, and administers 14 budget accounts totaling to $3.5 million. At the Los Altos Hills campus and in the community, ALD offers courses and support services designed to help students with disabilities through seven programs: Disability Resource Center, Computer Access Center, Transition to Work, Community-Based Program, Adapted Physical Education, Student Tutorial Evaluation Program (STEP) and Post-Stroke (REACH). She also manages Foothill College's Psychological and Health Services, ancillaries that impact student retention and enhance student success.

On June 19, 2006, the FDCCD Board of Trustees awarded Ms. Gregorio the "Exemplary Achievement Award" for accomplishments during the 2005 + 2006 school year.

Ms. Gregorio's 26-year career at FDCCD began in October 1980 as Staff Assistant/ Coordinator of the Contract Instruction Program for De Anza College. Prior to her 1997 appointment as Dean, she was the Coordinator for the Disabled Students Programs and Services.

In June 2001, Ms. Gregorio chaired the committee that led to the development of an Associate of Arts degree and Certificate in Special Education and Adaptive Fitness, a "first" in California. In December 2005, she developed a partnership with Stanford University's Geriatric Education Center to offer a series of classes focusing on health and aging in a multicultural context.

Ms. Gregorio attended Harvard University's Management Development Program in 1999. She earned a Master of Arts degree in Educational Administration, Organization and Leadership at the University of San Francisco. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Foreign Service and International Relations from the University of the Philippines.

She is a member of several professional associations. Among them are the Association of California Community College Administrators (ACCCA), American Management Association (AMA), California Association of Higher Education and Disability (CAPED), Association on Higher Education and Disability (AHEAD), FDCCD's Minority Staff Association, and Foothill College's Asian-Pacific Islander Network. She is also a licensed Realtor in the State of California.

A Union City resident for 21 years, Ms. Gregorio is an avid supporter of several community organizations and a generous benefactor of fundraising projects. She celebrates her 21-year marriage to Carlen Gregorio, who recently retired after 27 years of service at Pacific Bell. Their sons Marlowe and Kyle are active members of the Columbian Squires, which is under the auspices of the Knights of Columbus, of which Carlen is an officer. Kyle, a piano prodigy since age six, has performed at several solo concerts that benefited St. Anne's parish and other charitable groups.

Ms. Gregorio believes in the positive influence of music and the arts in children's development, and is a volunteer-organizer of numerous piano recitals and musical concerts for young children. In her spare time, she enjoys taking long walks, entertaining friends, and planning family get-togethers.
