Now
The California Clean Money Campaign will strengthen the opportunities for legislation to be shaped by peoples needs and not Corporate agendas.
No one needs to bankrupt business in California but when working families are paying the highest share of taxes in history and corporations and rich individuals are paying the lowest levels ever known, the structure is upside down. The reason is who has access to the decision makers and why.
There is nothing inherently evil about running for office and raising money to do so, but as costs rise and the need for greater amounts of money to reach the electorate occur our electeds and candidates go to where the money is. That money has its' needs. Whether tax benefits, zoning decisions, favorable legislation or other needs, all come before taking care of the interests of those without lobbyists.
The average working persons needs always are the last to be handeled. The costs of healthcare, tuition or the environment are always in a debate with what breaks can be given to the donor class.
Claen Money would free up good people to good things without the thought of retribution by key donors towards their re-election.
