Return to the California Promise
In the 60's the California Promise was that every child in California that qualified for college would be able to go for free. What happened? We have led the world in developing new ideas and jobs.
It is a proven theory that when money is spent on education the returns are multifold. An educated population pays more taxes, generates greater wealth for all, reduces prison populations and creates more jobs.
The problem is getting there from here with the system of govenment that we have.
We cannot hold our leaders accountable if we do not work to elect them or change the system that elects them.
A vision like the Native Americans held of forseeablilty for seven generations of how our actions today would shape the future is not practical. Thinking of the best possible future is and should be the weighing factor of the legislature.
