Assets dedicated to education within Seaside are not equitable with Monterey and Marina See MPUSD's hidden gapI have important professional skills in business and a strong desire to use those skills for the promotion of social support networks for the cohesiveness of the community. I do not feel that the current school board promotes a cohesive and collaborative environment. The consequence is a lack of direction and purpose, leading to ineffectual leadership, a sense of loss. Employee turnover has lead to missed opportunities, for example the loss of a $3 Million Grant from the state for the modernization of 3 facilities within the district in 2004. There are disparities in financial support within the district's cities. I live in Seaside, where every single school is considered "Under Performing" under Federal and State Accountability standards. In order to ensure my 1st statement is effectuated, I need to be on the School Board, with an official mandate from the community and different employee groups. To ensure that the students who are falling behind because of social and economic disadvantages, are given the opportunity to succeed through vigilant management of educational assets within these schools. The Ed Trust -West Public Policy Foundation documents in their study of MPUSD, that Ord Terrace Elementary receives $300,00 less per year in personnel support than elementary schools in Monterey and Marina. Highland Elementary receives $ 100,000 less, King Middle $100,000 and Seaside High $100,000 less. |
