The Budget Committee was a community effort. Together we identified over 10 Million Dollars of potential Budget cuts.
In 2002 and 2005, the Board of Trustees was asked by the County office of Education, under the threat of receivership, to eliminate 8 Million Dollars from a Budget of 60 Million, 15%. This was an arduous task made easy because of the diligent hard work of the Budget Committee. Over 3 months, I helped lead the committee to a list of cuts, rated from "least desirable" to "most desirable". All the Board had to do was vote yes or no. The hard business analysis was done in cooperation with the Chief Business Officer and the Budget Committee. My strong business background was an asset that helped ensure district solvency.
