Increased ServicesBy Charel WinstonCandidate for City Council Member; City of El Dorado Hills | |

More police officers, better traffic control, new parks and recreation facilities, prompt local permits for businessesCurrently El Dorado Hills has only two police officers on duty on Friday nights to cover an area as far as Cameron Park. Despite their best efforts to provide public security, two police officers are not enough. Many residents complain of slow police response, inadequate 911 support, and poor customer service. As a city, we can do better. We need more police officers on the beat, who know our children and who will be given the resources in order to do their job to the best of their abilities. We cannot continue to demand more of our police department while providing them with fewer resources to meet the increased demands. I will also strive for better traffic control through the building of new roads and the optimization of traffic flow patterns and direction. As your city councilmember, I will advocate the development of new parks and recreation facilities for the enjoyment and benefit of all residents of the City of El Dorado Hills. I will also seek to improve the current parks for a variety of special community events. I will also work to ensure that local permits for businesses are efficient, prompt, and cost effective. El Dorado Hills City Hall will be staffed by caring, competent, and courteous personnel. El Dorado Hills is a prosperous bedroom community with strong family values and orientation. Growth should be tailored to the specific needs of its residents such as restaurants, retail stores, parks and recreational centers that are geared to families, seniors, and all residents of the City of El Dorado Hills, while serving the growing needs of our community. Our families require parks for a variety of family activities, our youths require more hi-end indoor sports facilities, and our seniors deserve affordable, yet sophisticated, customized "patio" housing with state-of-the-art assisted living facilities tailored to the needs and expectations of a more urbane clientele base. Restaurants and other businesses should offer its premium products and outstanding customer service at reasonable, fair prices, without the extravagant overcharges that are typical in such an affluent community. Incentives for business owners will offset their need to raise costs, thus providing a greater customer base and a recipe for success. Further, the Internet Mall is a viable means of raising large-scale sales revenue to the City of El Dorado Hills through an expanded sales tax base without incurring unnecessary higher taxes and without the standard constraints of brick n' mortar construction. |
