It's easy to complain about what needs to be done. Here's something we can do. This county needs to develop an economic action council that includes regular citizens as well as groups with economic interests in the area.

  • We need to explore What, Where, When and How to attract clean industry and businesses to our area.

  • We need to examine communities that have been successful in creating the Village concept which attracts builders, grants, and businesses while beautifying the area, controlling traffic, and providing housing for people of all economic levels.

  • We need to re-engage the county in the Tahoe basin. You need a supervisor who will encourage the entire Board to look EAST, not WEST. Tahoe is the true Jewel of the County and should be the shining example for the entire state and nation on how you can balance environmental protection with jobs, housing, and community.

  • The strength of the community far exceeds that of the individual. The county, the city and the TRPA must come together to create and implement the people's vision for their community and together seek alternative funding for projects through private and public grants.

  • The county needs to set priorities. We may get a fair percentage of the county budget here in Meyers, but if it's inadequately funded to begin with... an example would be the road maintenance budget ... we will continue to see declining roads and inadequate services.

  • We need to make sure that the county maintains health and social services facilities here and adequately funds these services.

  • We need competitive wages to attract top people in the area of public safety.

It's time to stop talking and start acting. You need someone to represent you who is accountable to you, who is not beholden to special interest groups on the West Slope and who will make you, the citizens of Tahoe, her top priority. I believe I am that person. I know I can do the job, I want the job and I ask for your vote on November 8.
