No to Village PlanBy Gary E. SnelsonCandidate for Council Member, Council; City of Redondo Beach; District 1 | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
The Village Plan for development of the AES Power Plant area would bring in too much congestion and traffic.Improving family life should be the cornerstone of the important decisions facing the Redondo Beach City Council, and the building permitted under the Village Plan would not promote families or family values. The Village Plan would permit the building of too many condominiums, and the building of a luxury hotel would only make the traffic situation worse. While living in Redondo Beach for the past 17 years, what has impressed me the most about this city is that it still has the feeling of a small town, family oriented, community. This is not true of many other beach communities. If given the opportunity to sit on the city council, I will do everything in my power to keep it that way by stopping or limiting the overcrowding caused by the over-building of large business and condominium complexes. We do not need more traffic, and plans should be implemented to get cars and traffic out of Redondo Beach - not build high rise complexes which would bring in more. Please do not enrich the developers at the expense of those of us that cherish the beach. |
