Born in Los Angeles, California in 1960 to Peruvian parents who became citizens in 1967. Sal grew up in East and South Central Los Angeles before moving to Gardena, California. He attended Bishop Montgomery High School in Torrance where he was a class representative and Chair of the High School Speech and Debate Club. Sal attended UCLA from 1978 to 1983 where he majored in Psychology and obtained a student teacher credential. After teaching 3rd grade in Los Angeles, Sal worked for the City of Los Angeles in the Rent Control Division. In 1985, Sal moved to San Francisco to attend the University of San Francisco School of Law where he graduated with distinction receiving honrs from the faculty as well as an award bestowed by his classmates for his contributions to the school and the surrounding community. Sal has been an attorney since 1989 and, recently, added another facet to his talents by obtaining a real estate broker's license so he could help people realize the dream of home ownership by serving as their mortgage lender. |
