Political Philosophy for Sal Torres

Closing Budget Issues. We need to make sure Measures M & N pass. The revenue generated from these measures wiull help fund the over 45 vacant city staff positions that exist. More important, we have to revise our methodology for expending the funds by earmarking revenues for not only vacant positions but, also, for those positions with impending retirements. City Wide Shuttle. Since 2000, I have been laying the groundwork for implementing a city wide shuttle that will connect residents and workers with government buildings, shopping and medical centers and BART and SAMTRANS stations. Presently, we are starting a dialogue with neighboring communities about a shared shuttle program so that we ensure a shuttle will help solve transporation issues on a regional basis as well. Residential Parking Crisis. I will start looking at the possibility of issuing residential parking permits to property owners -- two per property. Any additional permits will be available but at a fee sufficient to cover the costs of enforcing on going parking violations and issues created by too many cars per household. |
