OPEN, FAIR AND HONEST GOVERNMENTBy Christine A. LinnenbachCandidate for Supervisor; County of San Francisco; District 7 | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
OPEN, FAIR AND HONEST GOVERNMENTSan Franciscans deserve government that is accountable, and effective, a government whose workings are transparent, and a City government that is free of patronage and favoritism. While on the campaign trail, District Seven residents and small business owners have voiced their continued concern that insider politics have diminished people's esteem for City government. When elected, I will work to end this cynicism as I will owe my allegiance to the voters who placed me in office. As District Seven Supervisor, I will restore integrity, accountability, and responsiveness to District Seven residents and empower San Franciscans more directly in making decisions about the future of the City. As Supervisor, I will: · Demand fiscal responsibility during both good and bad economic times and reduce the size of government by eliminating waste; and · Preserve neighborhood voice in government by supporting district elections and empower neighborhoods in the planning and decision making process. · Clean up the election process by imposing caps on spending and contributions, enforce "Sunshine Laws", and protect District Elections and instant runoff voting; · Restore ethics and integrity at City Hall by discouraging patronage, increasing resources for the Ethics Commission, creating a more engaged Elections Department, and building bridges with City departments. |
