City Council Meetings need to be televised

By Jean W. Blois

Candidate for City Council Member; City of Goleta

This information is provided by the candidate
Good communication between the voters and the City Council is critical to making our City a success.
Public Access Television provides an opportunity for voters to follow issues and the voting behavior of their Council members. It is only fair and ethical to use the funds that have been accepted by the City of Goleta for the installation of television equipment to provide the public an opportunity to monitor our meetings.

Resistance and foot-dragging by some Council Members and staff have got to come to an end. I will press for the utilization of the designated funds to be expended to open our meetings to a wider audience as soon as possible.

It is my hope that more public involvement with City issues will lead to more participation by community members and more effective leadership by Council members. This will help create the dynamics we need to find consensus on difficult planning matters as well as assist us in clarifying Council priorities.
