By Charles E. "Charlie" Blair, M.D.

Candidate for Board Member; Vandenberg Village Community Services District

This information is provided by the candidate
Shorter Bullet Statements
  • Involvement in District Issues: I have attend VVCSD Board meetings on a regular basis. I am actively studying the current and past issues facing our community.

  • Strong Scientific Background: As a Physician, I am aware of the importance of safe, reliable water to our overall health. The study of natural history is a life-long interest of mine. In addition to biology, my studies at Cal Poly include soil and fire issues.

  • Strongly opposed to State Water: In 1978 and 1991, ratepayers in our three adjoining districts voted to decline State Water. Several thoughtful citizens read "the fine print" in the proposal, and advised us not to rise to the bait. Subsequent events have vindicated their wisdom.

  • If re-elected, I will diligently continue our District's conservation policies. I feel that further development should be kept within the limits of our existing water resources.

  • Other Background: I grew up in Paso Robles; have lived in Vandenberg Village since 1994; and in California nearly all of my life. In addition to being a retired USAF Surgeon, I am a Viet Nam Era Veteran; was deploye in support of Desert Storm in 1991; and have first hand memorie of WWII and the Korean Conflict (Not a forgotten war for me!). I hold the rank of Eagle Scout; was elected to the Order of theArrow; and have served in Boy Scout adult leadership positions, including Neighborhood Commissioner.
