My Family

My name is JC Schnabl. My wife, Laura, and I have lived in Corona for twelve years. Our 16-year-old son and 10-year-old daughter have each attended school in Corona since Kindergarten.

My wife and I have coached and supported our children in Corona youth sports, including soccer, baseball, swimming, and volleyball.

A History of Service

I worked as a police officer for 7 years. I was a member of the SWAT Team and taught drug and gang resistance classes in the LA Unified School District. While on-duty, I suffered an injury that nearly left me paralyzed. I was required by my police agency to retire to prevent further risk to my long-term health and mobility.

With my family's encouragement, I returned to college at UC Irvine and completed my Master's Degree in Business Administration.

Finance Experience to Lead Corona

I am the Director of Business Affairs for California State University, Long Beach.

I conduct fiscal oversight of $45 Million in government grants and contracts, ensuring that every transaction is made in compliance with federal guidelines.

I helped to craft a nursing education partnership with Long Beach Memorial Medical Center, the second largest private hospital group on the West Coast. I also helped to structure an education partnership with the Long Beach Veterans Administration Medical Center. Both of these programs have received national recognition, and are being used as a blueprint for public/private partnerships and inter-agency partnerships designed to address the growing nursing shortage crisis here in California.
