Full Biography for Nancy E. Mc Caa
Candidate for |
Nancy is a hard-working mother of two sons. She is involved in her children's education, and their schools. She understands the pressures on teachers, administrators, children and parents. She believes in the following goals for our schools:
One of the worthy goals that the PTO was able to accomplish was to bring a 2-year Homework Club supplement to the City of Sunnyvale's "Yes! Express" after school sports program. This program was funded by Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and allowed teachers to designate at-risk kids who would benefit from attending the Homework Club at no cost to the parent. Nancy was requested to extend her tenure on the PTO because of her commitment and effectiveness. Nancy has had the great fortune of working for the last 3 years for 2 highly respected women that are directors of a research center that studies districts and district reform. Her work for these directors has given her the opportunity to hear some of the challenges and frustrations of districts, principals, and teachers, and to understand the urgent need for a strong relationship between all parties. In part, it was her exposure to this area of education that inspired Nancy to stand up and be willing to give back to the Sunnyvale Community. Nancy does not believe that the Sunnyvale Education system is broken or somehow lacking. After all, every one of the 10 schools in our district qualifies for Distinguished School status, and 2 of our schools are Blue Ribbon winners. Clearly we have a high quality system. Not many districts can lay claim to such standards. What she is saying is that she has children in the school system, she is proud of our current high standards and standing in the state/nation, and is willing to offer her time, skills, and experience to help keep this momentum going and growing. Employment History Nancy has worked at Stanford University for 20 years. She has been involved in the educational experience from kindergarten to post-graduate level through her experience as a parent, an officer in the PTO, and as a Stanford University Administrator. |
