This information is provided by the candidate |
My track record of accomplishmentsI think it is time to have a supervisor that knows how to deal with the present problems Sonoma County is facing. I have deep roots in this county and am convinced my business and agricultural background coupled with my community involvement make this possible. I will make decisions based on what is best for the community as a whole. I was born and have lived in Sonoma County most of my life. I see my way of life challenged every day. About every 5 years I must be involved in a major fight to just hold on. It is time to have a supervisor that understands how to fix problems, not make them worse. I have a track record of getting things done. -Established and chaired Healthy Community Consortium, HC2 CAPS, Committee which provided community support to SCOE which established a South County Clean and Sober class. -As chair of Sonoma County Aviation commission obtained Federal and state funds to purchase and build the Petaluma Municipal Airport. -Co-authored the Zone 2A-flood control tax ballot issue and worked to pass it. Those funds are paying the bulk of the Petaluma flood improvements. -Lead the West Petaluma Specific plan reform committee that successfully challenged the county plan for dense residential development in rural west Petaluma. -Helped create CAFF, was California Association of Family Farmers; now Community Alliance with Family Farmers. I served on first state board and as president of Sonoma chapter. -My career in Telecommunications finance was as a "change agent". I was asked to create a trust to provide telephone service for deaf customers. I was part of a team that split bell Labs into two companies, creating Bell Communications research. I managed a task force to create new accounting rules that were adopted by the Federal Communications Commission and installed in all regulated telephone companies. -I served on the1989 Sonoma County Grand Jury and as Forman protem of the 1990 Grand Jury. |
