Informed, resposible spending to lower MID depbt load without raising Rates. Protect water rights and low irrigation rates.MID now has a depbt of 699 million dollars. I belive that this depbt can be lowered through informed resposible spending. The expansion into outside areas should be pursued only through a complete plan that wouldalways be a benefit to existing MID. I feel that some of the projects have not had complete planing and have added a debt burden to existing MID rate payers. The management level at MID needs a thourgh examination to insure that MID will remain as a viable effieicent municipal utility. The eletric and irriagation rates must be maintained at there present low rates. Irrigation was the founding purpose of MID and must be maitained at its low rate to protect the economy and agriculture of the greater Modesto area. Modesto's economy is supported by agriculture and must be maintained. Water rights must be protected as water as the state and southern California are trying to obtain a larger share of our water. |
