Political activity:

The first political meeting that I ever attended was a San Mateo School Board meeting in 1976. A small group of parents successfully persuaded that School Board to establish a Montessori program. Of note, Sue Lempert, currently on the San Mateo City Council, was on the School Board at that time and cast a 'yes' vote.

In 1985 my husband's job took our family to London where I worked as a nurse in the National Health Service. There I was able to become an itegrated part of the community, but also learned how it felt to live without voting rights.

Two months prior to the Gulf War of 1991, my husband Steve was transferred to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In that country I gained a tremendous appreciation for our freedoms, especially as a woman. With this new awareness of our American liberties, after returning to the Bay Area, I became involved in local politics in 1995. In 1997, I ran and was elected to the San Mateo-Foster City School District.

Education:
1965 San Carlos High School
1968 Highland School of Nursing (Alameda County Hospital)
1982 Bachelors of Science, Nursing, UCSF
1984 Masters in Nursing, UCSF

Work Experience:
1968 - 1985 Emergency Room Nurse
1985 - 1990 London, England - National Health Service
1991 - 1992 Riyadh, Saudi Arabia - King Fahad National Guard Hospital
1992 - present Nurse Practitioner, Internal Medicine, Kaiser Hospital, SSF
