Children must be our first priority. Educational programs and teachers must be the budget priority. I believe that the health of our schools depends on active, involved parents and community members participating in the educational process of our children.

We are the second-lowest funded school District in San Mateo County. This is unfair to our children and our community. We must continue to advocate for legislative change in State funding and seek other means in order to have a level playing field. There is a need for continuing keen fiscal oversight to ensure dollars are going directly into the classrooms and programs are properly funded. We must have financial accountability while providing quality education by supporting our teachers and giving them the tools to do their jobs.

As a Registered Nurse I work as a patient advocate. As a School Board Trustee I work as a child advocate. We are involved in the 'business' of educating our children, our future citizens. With community support we must not only maintain, but strengthen our children's educational experience. Our children are our future.

As a Board member I will continue to be a voice for our children, their parents, teachers and community members.
