Raised in Glendale and a product of public schools, Dario Frommer has been serving as Governor Gray Davis' Appointments Secretary. He is now seeking election to the Forty-Third Assembly District seat, which includes Glendale, Burbank, Los Feliz, Toluca Lake, and parts of Atwater, North Hollywood and Silver Lake.

Frommer has held a variety of high level assignments in government over the past 15 years. As Appointments Secretary, Frommer, advised the Governor on filling thousands of appointed positions on State boards and commissions. Frommer's association with the Governor dates back to 1989 and includes serving as political director in Davis' 1998 campaign; as press secretary for the Controller's office; and as a consultant to the Lt. Governor's office. Frommer has also been chief of staff to former state Senator and current Democratic Party Chairman, Art Torres, and a consultant to the state Democratic Party.

Frommer teaches state and local Government at Glendale Community College and is a member of the American Federation of Teachers Glendale College Guild Local 2276. As a litigator and political law and legislative affairs attorney, Frommer practiced with the law firm of Long & Levit. Frommer was recently recognized as one of the Top 20 Lawyers Under 40 years of age in California by The Daily Journal,

Frommer graduated cum laude and with Honors from Colgate University in 1985, where he received a BA in International Relations and Political Science and served as Editor in Chief of the college paper. He received his JD from the University of California at Davis where he served as President of the Law School Student Association.

Frommer was raised in Glendale and attended Mark Keppel Elementary, Toll Junior High School and graduated from Hoover High School. His mother, Rosa Frommer, taught elementary school in Glendale and has been very active in community activities including the League of Women Voters. Frommer was active in Boy Scouts and other youth activities.

As a high school senior Frommer participated in the YMCA Model Legislature and Court Program, which enables students to develop leadership skills while learning about state government. The program launched his interest in government and he was elected California Youth Governor by his peers. Today, he serves on the programs' board of directors, helping train tomorrow's leaders.

Frommer lives in the Los Feliz section of the district, where he has been a homeowner for several years. He is 35 years old.
