Vote Your Principals 1. Each person has the right to decide how to live. No one should be forced or coerced into acting against his or her will or best interests. Individuals have the right to exercise sole dominion over their own lives, and have the right to live in whatever manner they choose, so long as they do not forcibly interfere with the equal right of others to live in whatever manner they choose. 2. Each person is responsible for his or her own actions and the consequences for those actions. 3. If someone needs help, individuals will provide help voluntarily. It is not the responsibility of government to provide help. 4. The user should pay. Non-users should not be forced to pay. 5. Government exists only to prevent people from harming each other. It is not government's business to interfer in "victimless" activities. Government should be limited and local, with the State and Federal government adhering strictly to their respective Constitutions. The sole moral function of government is to protect the rights and liberties of all honest, peaceful individuals, so there can never be any justification for the government itself violating those rights and liberties. A free, prosperous society can only exist where individuals are responsible for themselves and their actions, and are tolerant of all other peaceful individuals. Government does not have the right to dispose of the lives of individuals and the fruits of their labor without their consent. Government must not violate the rights of any individual. These rights are-- (1) the right to life -- accordingly I support the prohibition of the initiation of physical force against others; (2) the right to liberty of speech and action -- accordingly I oppose all attempts by government to abridge the freedom of speech and press, as well as government censorship in any form; and (3) the right to property -- accordingly I oppose all government interference with private property, such as confiscation, nationalization, and eminent domain, and support the prohibition of robbery, trespass, fraud, and misrepresentation. |
