Traffic and Traffic AlternativesBy Bonnie MorrCandidate for Member of City Council; City of Santa Cruz | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
The Traffic in Santa Cruz is a problem for all of us and I believe that with appropriate road changes we can alleviate some of the gridlock in our City. Some Solutions I propose: 1 Build Metro Base at Harvey West Site to facilitate increased Bus Service- Local and Express. 2 Create High Occupancy Vehicle Lanes on Highway 1, write grant language that will reserve this for 20 years as an HOV lane for the purpose of mass transit and car pools. Creating incentives for people to utilize alternative transportation. 3 Complete the purchase of the Rail Corridor and create plans for the Bike and Pedestrian Pathway throughout the county. 4 Restrict neighborhood traffic congestion by creating residential zones, and facilitating traffic flow on main arterials. With research on traffic planning, create one-way streets to facilitate traffic control and bicycle traffic. Larger Cities have had to implement traffic flow remedies we need to do the research on what works. |
