Affordable Housing

By Bonnie Morr

Candidate for Member of City Council; City of Santa Cruz

This information is provided by the candidate
I have concerns about the lack of affordable housing in our city, I have listed some things I would do to create affordable housing.
Here are some points I would address;

1 Seek out grants that are available for affordable housing cooperatives.

2 Require and enforce affordable housing components in all new development.

3 Create a property transfer tax to raise funds for affordable housing.

4 Support land trust programs.

5 protect current affordable housing stock.

6 Increase the percentage of redevelopment Agency funds from 20% to 30%.

7 Increase the required percentage of affordable housing units in new projects.

8 Work with the University and State Representatives to create more student housing on campus. Please e-mail for additional comments on these issues Thank You
