We Cannot Foul Our Own Nest - A Campaign to Keep Our Ocean and Beaches Clean!

By Jane Egly

Candidate for Member, City Council; City of Laguna Beach

This information is provided by the candidate
You have Jane Egly's pledge to fight vigorously and successfully for pristine ocean waters and spotlessly clean beaches.
Lagunans, we cannot allow ANY sewer spills, period. We must fix our town's old and tired waste system. Work has been started, but it is not enough. As your Council Member, I shall vote to accelerate the progress. To make certain we do not have this problem again, I shall work to have an effective sewer/waste maintenance program from now through eternity!

I will vote for an educational program to start this year to teach us how all of us can stop "urban runoff." This toxic problem is the water that flows into our storm drains and then to the Pacific Ocean. Fertilizers, pesticides, waste oil, chemicals and all sorts of other harmful substances and dirty debris are finding their way onto our beaches and into our waters. I pledge to you that I will spend the energy and time necessary to get Orange County community neighbors to see the need for their cooperation with us so that our ocean - their ocean - everyone's ocean is pristine and clean. This is an issue that cannot wait.

By the way, we will learn that one way to reduce urban runoff is to increase the public transportation. Fewer cars on our roads and freeways mean less pollutants in our ocean waters.

During my campaign, I've met professionals in our town and at Orange County Coastal Coalition meetings who have told me that there is money and funding from State and Federal sources that will help us fight urban runoff. Our Universities are interested in teaming with cities to do the research and create successful solutions to this problem. With the help of experts, we can make Laguna Beach a model city for handling this 21st Century challenge.

As your Ciy Council representative, I will help make Laguna Beach a model city in successfully implementing programs to protect our pristine ocean waters and keep clean our beaches. You have my word.

For more information about this and other important issues that concern Laguna Beach voters, please visit my campaign Website at http://www.Jane4Laguna.com.

Remember, on Election Day, November 7th, you have two votes for City Council. Be sure one of them is for the lady in the hat - that's me - Jane Egly! Many thanks.
