For 16 years I have lived in and loved Laguna Beach. In addition to working as an attorney, I have been active in community service. Now, as a semi-retired law professor, I am able and ready to use my energy, time and talents to serve the City as Council Member. I am not beholden to anyone, and my decisions will be guided by my conscience, common sense and the interests of the residents of Laguna Beach.

While not romantic, my motives in running for office include a desire to stop sewage spills, clean up the ocean and successfully resist attempts to develop our remaining open space. I believe we need to do more for our children and our seniors. We must find ways to protect our small town charm and overall quality of life from the explosive growth and over-development which surrounds us. We need to do more to guard against complete gridlock from tourist traffic. We must fight the proposed commercial airport at El Toro and successfully end this toxic threat to the quality of life we hold so dear here in Laguna and South Orange County.

I look forward to working with my City Council colleagues to help turn our collective vision and skills into a splendid reality of "Paradise Preserved", as opposed to a tragic nightmare of "Paradise Lost."
