Candidate for
Governing Board Member; Martinez Unified School District

I was appointed as a Governing Board Member of the Martinez Unified School District in May 1999. I believe that during my time on the Board, I have demonstrated that I care deeply about the children of Martinez and put them first in all decisions I make. I have been able to work as a team with my fellow Board Members to move our School District forward in our desire to provide our children with learning opportunities to achieve their full potential.

I believe that providing the highest quality education for all of our students must be our top priority. Our public school system needs the energy and commitment of parents, educators and community leaders to ensure that we continue to develop quality programs and curriculum in first rate facilities.

I am fortunate to be self-employed, allowing me to volunteer in classrooms and visit our different school campuses to see and hear first-hand both what we are doing well, and what we still need to work on.

I am also very involved in my community. I co-lead a Junior Girl Scout Troop, teach a religious education class at St. Catherines, am a Board Member of the Martinez Community Swim Team, and president of the Las Juntas PTA. My involvement in the community is very important to me because I believe strongly in volunteering. These activities also keep me in touch with parents from all over Martinez with students in all of our schools.

I have also been very active on committees within the District, as follows: Strategic Planning, Potential Action Team, Class Size Reduction, Facilities and Report Card.

I am very committed to working hard to see that Martinez Unified School District provides the best education possible for ALL of our children.
